Alex - 1 Day Old

Nathan introducing everyone to his little brother, Alex.

Resting in Mommy's arms.

Showing off his snuggly hat from Pop-Pop.

Alex is all smiles over the doggie that he received as a gift from his brother Nathan
(but still taking his napping very seriously at the same time)

Wednesday, May 6: Alex's first full day. Today he met his big brother Nathan for the first time, as well as his Pop-Pop and Aunt Emily. Nathan brought a special present for his brother, a stuffed dog that he picked out himself just for the big occasion. Little Alex is off to an auspicious start, just enjoying his quiet time with his family.

Introducing Alexander Martin Ege

On Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at 5:38 pm, we welcomed Alexander Martin Ege to the world and to our family. We are thrilled to be a family of four!
While we were not expecting Alex to make an appearance until May 11, Laura had a feeling that today was the day. After her visit to the doctor in the morning, Dave rushed to the hospital at noon, and just a few hours later Alex was born. An exciting and unexpected day, to say the least!!
These photos are when he was only a few minutes old. Mom and baby are doing great, and Nathan can't wait to meet his little brother on Wednesday morning.

38 weeks...still going

We've made it to 38 weeks...one week until the scheduled c-section. Contractions are well underway, so I'm really hoping we don't go another full week. I know that everyday the baby stays in is better for him, but boy am I ready to not be pregnant (not to mention ready to meet the little guy!!!) So we're just taking things one day at a time...

My next dr's appt is tomorrow morning, so we'll see how things are going...at least I know this won't go more than another 7 days!

Little Drummer Boy

Nathan just figured out putting the drum around his neck so he can walk around playing it - what a riot!

36 weeks and a trial run

I've made it to 36 weeks...and my c-section is 3 weeks from today. On one hand the time is just flying, and on the other, I'm VERY ready to not be pregnant anymore! The contractions have definitely started - I spent Saturday night in L&D at the hospital because my contractions were down to 5-7 minutes apart. All is well, and I came back home in the morning. It definitely made me stop and realize that as much as I'd like to not be pregnant anymore, I'm not QUITE ready for this little peanut to make his appearance - guess I'd better get that hospital bag packed...just in case!

Nathan is definitely ready to have the baby arrive, although he has NO idea what he's in store for when he does arrive. He doesn't say "baby" yet, but we've taught him the sign for it, so he'll sign that he wants to "see" the baby and he'll lay on my belly to give him snuggles or give my belly kisses. These days he won't go to sleep without a snuggle from the baby first. He has tried to scoop the baby out with his dump truck, and has taken to telling me he wants me to "open" my tummy so the baby can come out. It's all very cute and we're glad he's so excited :-) I'm a little bit nervous about how he's going to do once the baby's actually here, but we'll just have to take it one day at a time (and know some are going to be much worse than others!)

One pregnant mommy

We went to the zoo on Friday - the weather was fantastic!!! Nathan loved the animals, but insisted on a ride on my shoulders on the way out. Aunt Mary Anne got a shot of us just before he decided it was time to get down. So here I am, just shy of 36 weeks pregnant...
